Faith
The internet has become an extraordinary symbol of our age. It is a global network, saturated with images and ideas and with opportunities for connection and enlightenment on a scale history has never known. But it can be either empowering or, perhaps more often, overwhelming. How much of the knowledge it offers us is really significant and of value to the formation of our lives? Are we happily surfing the information superhighway, or are we exhausted flies caught in the world wide web? We might ask, for all the freedom that is talked about in today's advanced world, how truly free do we really feel?
For two thousand years, followers of Jesus Christ have believed that true freedom is to be found in the company of this enigmatic historical figure. His teaching was profound and life-changing, and his death speaks volumes about how our world reacts to people who really do offer windows of freedom from all that oppresses us. But his significance goes far beyond historical events, because in this man's life and death, God was engaging with the world in a way that would transform reality forever. In the body of his followers, the Church as it has grown through the centuries, the power of the Spirit has created the possibilities of service, commitment, faith, hope and love in which true freedom has been found.
We hope that the sermons made available in this website give you some insights into what Christian faith and discipleship mean. And if they kindle a spark of curiosity, why not come and explore your faith with us. As well as listening to our preaching, we run bible study groups on Mondays (for women), Wednesdays and Fridays, we run weekly study groups in the season of Lent, and we will be running a Christian basics course in the summer on 2008.
Email us for further information about any of these opportunities.
