Nick Walser (PCC Secretary)
It was almost standing room only in the crypt room for the Annual Parochial Church Meeting on 30 April, when more than 50 members of the congregation met to discuss the Annual Report for 2017 and re-elect our PCC and Officers for the next 12 months. Two long-serving PCC Members, Diana Finning and Gill Perrin, stood down this year but will continue to work hard for the church in many other ways. We welcomed Jean Harrison and Deborah Zandstra as new members in their place.
The PCC held its regular meeting on 14 May. Amongst other subjects, we discussed the plans to renew the lighting in the church, and our project to sponsor a refugee family as part of the government-backed community sponsorship scheme. We also discussed ways in which we can provide practical support for the separate refugee sponsorship project which is being pursued by a group of other local churches as members of ‘Churches Together in Hampstead’.
We then heard from Jeremy about how work is progressing on the development of a new Mission Action Plan to establish the path that our parish should follow over the next five years. All members of the congregation have had an opportunity over the last couple of months to contribute to this process by giving our views on what is distinctive about HPC, what should be kept and what should change, and we will no doubt hear more about this over the coming months. The PCC meeting explored some of the ideas that have emerged from this process, and Jeremy and the MAP working group will continue working on an outline plan for more detailed discussion by the PCC at its next meeting in July.
