Traidcraft

"The fields of the poor may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it all away." Proverbs 13:23

Fairtrade is about - better prices, - decent working conditions, - environmental sustainability, - fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the developing world. Fairtrade enables producers to improve their lot and have more control over their lives.

At Hampstead Parish Church we buy our Fairtrade goods through Traidcraft. We run a Traidcraft stall on the first Sunday of the month after the 10.30 a.m. service where we sell: - a wide range of foodstuffs including tea, coffee, rice, pasta, sugar, dried fruit, biscuits and, of course, chocolate; - a variety of gifts and cards during the year; - Christmas cards and gifts at our Christmas Market. We celebrate Big Brew Day every year, usually during Fairtrade Fortnight. This year our Big Brew Day will be celebrated on Sunday March 4th after the 10.30 service. As well as the usual stall we will have tea and coffee tasting sessions, sell home made cakes and cookies and have a fun quiz.

Hampstead Parish Church has been a Fairtrade church since August 2008 because we use Traidcraft tea, coffee, sugar and biscuits after services and for all meetings and help to promote Fairtrade wherever possible. We are delighted that the London Diocese has now achieved Fairtrade Diocese status.
